Question

How do i plan my trip?

Answer

Fantastic question! Ben wrote a guide on the national park and town. Check your email inbox for a link!

Question

Is the wedding outdoors?

Answer

Yes! The ceremony is outdoors at The Wedding Tree. It is a 0.2 mile walk from the bus drop off. Ladies, plan your shoes accordingly! The cocktail hour and reception is indoors.

Question

Can I drive myself to the Wedding Tree?

Answer

Unfortunately, no. There are very limited parking spaces at the Wedding Tree. Everyone will be riding together on our bus. We will get picked up at our main hotel, Elk Country Inn at 2:30, and the bus will drop everyone off at our reception location which is on the town square.

Question

Do I need a pass to get into the park?

Answer

Yes. You will need to purchase a vehicle pass to drive on certain roads within the park. You can drive the main Highway 191 without a pass and get to some great viewpoints and historical landmarks, but to get to a majority of hikes, you'll drive through an entrance gate and be required to pay. We recommend buying a 7-day vehicle pass ($35) which covers everyone in your vehicle. Make sure to keep you entrance pass with you for the duration of your trip.

Question

Do I need bear spray?

Answer

YES. Do not go hiking in Grand Teton National Park without bear spray. It is uncommon to see bears in the hot summer days while we are there, but they are in all areas of the park and it's your best line of defense to not get eaten. During the summer, bears are most often spotted near dawn and dusk.

Question

What is the weather like in Jackson?

Answer

Summertime temperature can vary quite drastically. We’ve been there in June & July and the mornings are typically in the high 30s or low 40s. You don’t need a winter jacket & gloves, but something to wear in 35 degree weather in the morning. It will get warmer by about 9-10am and feel very hot in sun by mid day. Since we are at a high elevation, 70 degrees there feels warmer than a midwest 70 and sunscreen is highly recommended. Bring a layer if hiking into the mountains and always check the forecast. Jackson and the park are so close to the mountains, and bad storms can roll in with little warning.

Question

What is the altitude, and how do I adjust?

Answer

The average altitude in Jackson Hole is 6,800. We recommend saving any big hikes for later in your trip so your body has time to adjust. Drink plenty of water throughout your trip and know your limits.

Question

Can I camp/stay in a different hotel?

Answer

Of course! Please do what works best for you and your group. We've spent countless hours trying to find the best location and most affordable stay for you all, and Elk Country Inn checks both of those boxes. Make sure you have arrangements to get to the Elk Country Inn to be on the bus that will take everyone to the ceremony location.
