Kate was much too early to the date, which is not surprising. They were supposed to be meeting at Carmen's Lunch Bar at 6:30pm, and at 6:00pm Kate showed up. So she went next door to the Bodacious Brew coffee shop and hung out with her Barista friends - keeping an eye out the window for Ben. As she saw him for the first time, walking into the restaurant, wearing a blue polo and a big smile, Kate knew it was going to be a great date! "I thought to myself, 'Awesome! This is going to be so fun!' I had no idea how in love I would soon be, but I knew immediately Ben was someone I wanted to get to know." The two enjoyed Tapas at Carmen's and then walked down to Vinyl Music Hall. They saw Grizfolk and Dinosaur Daze and had a great time rocking out. They finished their date by spending time with some of Ben's friends in East Hill. #BestFirstDateEver
Kate surprised Ben with a trip to South Bend to see his best friend Chris and his wife Kate. After a full day enjoying friends and laughs in South Bend, Ben and Kate went for a midnight walk through a lovely neighborhood. The fall leaves were on the ground and the walk was beautiful. They kicked the piles of leaves, laughing and having fun. They also ran when they thought the homeowner (who did the raking) might have heard them! They talked about what was important to them in life, big questions they had, and how much they loved one another. Spurred on by this romantic setting and the incredible joy he felt since meeting Kate, Ben got down on one knee and asked Kate to marry him. She said, "Yes..OF COURSE!" As they walked around the blocks, Ben asked three more times, 'Just to be sure!' Kate said 'YES!' every time. When they returned to the house, Ben proposed for the fifth and final time. This time in front of Chris, Kate and their canine son, Ralphie. Kate said 'Yes' for the fifth time, and the rest is history!
