When Jordan was 3, the Pilchers moved to North Florida from South Georgia for her dad Jeff’s job. Around the same time, Jeff met Michael Stevens at work, they realized they lived close to each other, and just like that… family friendship unlocked. Naturally, little Jordan and Ben were along for the ride when their parents would hang out. Then, as life does, things shifted. The Pilchers moved to a new neighborhood, the kids grew up, and Jordan and Ben basically forgot the other existed. Years later, the Stevens ended up nearby, and the two would occasionally cross paths at school events and their sisters’ lacrosse games, but at that point, so much time had passed they didn’t even remember how they knew each other. (Which honestly makes this whole story better.) Fast forward to their early twenties: Jordan wrapping up her junior year of college and Ben finishing fire school. Like many modern love stories, fate stepped in… in the form of a dating app. They both swiped right, and Ben wasted no time planning date number one, complete with picking Jordan up at the front door like a true gentleman. Jordan’s dad, of course, made it as awkward as possible (if you know Jeff, this should come as no surprise). Despite that, the first date was a success. So much so that Jordan decided to keep Ben around… but she made him wait about six months before agreeing to a second date. Luckily, Ben stuck it out, and the rest is history. Moral of the story: sometimes your person is just your old neighbors' kid; you just needed a dating app (apparently your parents) and a little patience to figure it out.
