The first time we met was in the hospital... Romantic, right? Once we realized we had some, actually many, mutual interests - biking, hiking, climbing, traveling, etc. we began to hit it off. That encounter was brief but followed up a few weeks later by a beautiful hike on Skyline Drive. On that hike, our dogs got to meet, saw some breathtaking waterfalls, and ultimately ended up getting caught in a thunderstorm before we made it back to the car. Now we are getting to the juicy part, right? No, not quite yet. We remained friends for a few months following saying in touch and going mountain biking when we were both free. It wasn't until after a lazy hike up St. Mary's that we finally declared mutual interest in one another. That kicked off our relationship together!
We were training for a half marathon, so I wasn't surprised when Ben insisted we run in Sugar Hollow that day. Not only is this area a magical spot due to its beauty, it's also where I grew up going to camp and where Ben lived for a number of years. So we took off on a 13 mile run on a brisk March morning, just bee-bopping along the trails. We encountered a number of friends that day, I guess everyone wanted to enjoy the unusual sunshine & warmth outside at that time. On our way back down the trail that Ben suggested, "come look at some of these cool pools over here in the stream." It was there that we agreed to stand together with love, respect, honesty & dedication. That was the best part :) The second best part was when we came around the last bend in the trail, so many of our friends and family were waiting with food, champagne, and open arms, ready to CELEBRATE!
