We met on a dating app - Hinge! Ben swooned Cara with his multitude of fish pictures, while Cara caught Ben's eye with her broken car needs and Israel pictures. Our first date was at Casper's in Eagan, near where Ben used to mow grass.

After Cara had been waiting impatiently...Ben planned a grand scheme to fly a remote control air plane and drop the ring attached to a parachute. He set up a date to go to his parents' house to fly this plane of his youth. We arrived and shortly after the plane took off it lost communication with the controller, nose dived into the ground, and was destroyed. Cara had no idea what was going on, so her response was something like "oh yay - more space on that shelf now!" After the parents and Ben searched for the parachute attached to the ring, Ben did a classic proposal kneeling in the gravel, then explaining his plan and vowing to be a godly husband to Cara. Cara said yes right before Ben said "and your mom is here". Cara was then surprised to see her mom drove down to the cities, and Ben's mom snuck in a videographer to capture the moment. It was a very special moment and a good memory of a brutal end to one of Ben's childhood planes.
