Train
For guests travelling to Eilean Donan Castle, We recommend using Scotland's public transport network. All journey details below are based on departures from Edinburgh bus station. If you are arriving straight from the airport, please take the tram service to Edinburgh city centre. From Edinburgh bus station, you may take the M10,M90, or PM91 services with Megabus to Inverness, From Inverness bus station, continue your journey by taking bus service 917 to Bridge Road End. Bridge Road End is just outside of the Eilean Donan car park. If you are coming from Angus and want to take the bus, there is a few routes you can take, You can travel from Forfar-Aberdeen-Inverness-Bridge Road End or Forfar-Dundee-Perth-Inverness-Bridge Road End. Travelling by car is straightforward for our Scottish guests; however, We advise allowing a minimum journey time of 4-5 hours for car travel. You are best taking the A9 which takes 3 hours and 45 minutes from Forfar.

Known for it's beauty, it is also the mythical home of Hamish Macbeth. ''Over the sea to Skye'' Speed Bonnie boat like a bird on the wing.... One of Scotland's most famous songs come from the magnificent Isle of Skye. Take a short journey over the bridge to see a magical place. You can get magnificent views of the five sisters. You may even see some Seal's, Otters, and Dolphin's. While you are at it, why not head up to Broadford for a famous Fish and Chips by the harbour. If you are into whiskey, then head over to tallisker and get a tour of the distillery. Are you into history? The Glenelg Brochs are incredible. 2000 year old ancient towers that offer a fascinating glimpse into life in the bygone age. Gardens that were created by Baron Schroder in the late 19th century. It has 20 acres of space, which you can roam and enjoy.. Garden lovers? this is for you. You can walk anywhere and be amazed by views, wildlife, and peacefulness. We really hope all of our inland and international guests enjoy their visit to Scotland to celebrate our day. It's worth noting that ourselves and our guests will be in ''Hollywood'' because Eilean Donan Castle appears in many famous movies including - Highlander 1986 - James Bond : The World is Not Enough 1999 - Highlander 2026 - Bonnie Prince Charlie 1948 - Loch Ness 1996 They are currently filming Highlander 2026 with actors like Russel Crowe, Henry Cavill, and Jumanji's Karen Gillan. You are stepping into a major film set!
Rental Car
**For our international guests arriving into Edinburgh Airport. If you want a nice, relaxing, and beautiful drive up to Dornie, we also recommend renting a car from the Airport. For a day the price is around £50-£100 per day. If you are eligible to rent a car in Scotland, it certainly is a good alternate to bus travel.. just remember, its the left side of the road!
