Our first date was at Salty Iguana in Corinth (RIP!), over margaritas and chips and salsa, we did the obligatory mutual friends rundown. With Ben having attended Rockhurst High School the same years Aimee attended Notre Dame de Sion, we had many! No doubt we attended the same high school dances and mixers. We soon discovered we grew up going to the same church and had even made our Confirmations in the same class. Our families had the same favorite KC staples (shoutout Stroud's and Waldo Pizza!). After years and years of near meet cutes, it took a swipe right on Bumble for us to finally meet!
Ben proposed on a long weekend getaway to Savannah, Georgia in March. On the second day of our trip, we made reservations at one of the "must visit" restaurants down by the river, Vic's on the River. The plan was to go have an early lunch then walk through the squares in town and check out the fountain at Forsyth Park. Aimee, being unaware of what was happening, ordered a fried chicken lunch with mac and cheese and collard greens. During our journey to walk off our food comas, we stumbled upon a local artist at Forsyth Park who did beautiful paintings of gorgeous Savannah settings. Ben immediately picked up a painting of the Forsyth Park Fountain. Aimee kept browsing but it was soon very clear we weren't leaving without the fountain picture. After buying the painting, we walked over to the fountain, Ben had us circle the fountain to find the perfect photo spot. He asked a woman taking photos of the fountain if she would snap one of us, quietly telling her to keep on snapping as he was about to propose. He got down on one knee and Aimee immediately said "YES!"
