We met in 2019 and began dating a year later during the most uncertain times in our lives. So many plans were made and unmade. Gatherings cancelled or postponed. Throughout the ups and downs one thing continued to make itself known. When everything was uncertain, everything important became crystal clear. We fell in love and haven’t looked back! Pandemic tested, mother approved!

I arranged for us to take one last trip to Moab before desert season ended in October 2021. Fortunately it was too chilly at night to camp, so I had an excuse to book us accommodations at the beautiful Sorrel River Ranch. The plan was to go out adventuring in our truck and end the day with a sunset hike at Fischer Towers, one of our favorite spots in Moab. There I would find a scenic spot to propose. I prearranged for flowers and champagne to be waiting back in our room to celebrate! Everything was going great until we got lodged on a rock and almost broke the truck in half. Oops! The damage was causing strange noises as we made our way out from the trail and Aimee insisted we take it to an auto shop immediately. I hadn’t proposed yet. It was late afternoon and there were already flowers and champagne in the room so you can imagine the concern when I realized this proposal might be happening in an auto shop. It would be a funny story at least. Fortunately nobody was available so we headed to Fisher Towers for a quick hike, and would deal with the truck later. I made note of a lovely spot on our way in and when we arrived at the same spot on the way down, as the sun was setting, I made my move. I was so nervous I forgot to get down on one knee, but she still said yes!
