Ethan and Amanda connected in Memphis, TN over both being from Ohio and the HOT Memphis weather! Ethan asked Amanda on an ice-cream date, that he then changed to a dinner and ice-cream date to get more time together. Our first date included tacos at Molly’s La Casita, ice cream from Sweet Noshings and corn hole in Overton Square. Ethan likes to says Molly's was "where the magic happened."
Leading up to the proposal--> When driving back to Memphis after being with our families over the winter holidays, I (Amanda) asked Ethan if he had any New Year's goals or aspirations. He very quickly said he wanted to be engaged in 2020. I was surprised and obviously excited by his boldness. This led us to look at engagement rings together a month later. Ethan had designed a (beautiful) ring in February! It was quarantined in Canada for a few months because suddenly the world shut down, and he didn't know when he would be getting it... In May, Ethan got a call the ring was ready and finally in Memphis. He decided he was going to propose that weekend!
Amanda was in Ohio for a few weeks and Ethan was coming to visit for Memorial Day. We already had a pool party planned with our families. Once my family arrived at the Valentine's, Ethan stole my dad away and asked for his blessing to marry me. Ethan and I then went out to "see his best friend who was in town, too." He drove me to the Cox Arboretum, walked to a garden he had scoped out the day before, and got down on one knee. A bit later, our families showed up and celebrated with us. Then, we had a pool party, dinner celebration, and Zoom calls with family and friends. It was such a sweet weekend!
