In July 2021, Erica and Brian began their MBA journey at Duke University. Erica quickly became a social butterfly, known for her adventurous spirit and talent for hosting memorable events. Brian, on the other hand, was a familiar face on campus due to his laid-back demeanor and love for recreational activities. Despite spending months in the same preparatory program before school officially started, Brian and Erica didn't cross paths until their second day at business school, during a group photo. Erica was initially cautious of Brian, partly due to his group chat profile picture—an old college relic showing him shirtless with a thick mustache—and his accidental absence from the group's initial photo. Despite this questionable first impression, Erica felt a spark of curiosity after meeting Brian. Agreeing to meet him for a night out in Durham, she found herself drawn to his easygoing charm and engaging conversation. Their relationship blossomed, transforming late nights into memorable dates. Together, they embarked on 11 international flights, seeking adrenaline-pumping adventures and hidden gems off the beaten path. Erica would say Brian fell in love with her cooking first, but to Brian, it was Erica's infectious aura—a blend of selflessness and attention to detail—that ensured everyone she cared about felt seen and lived in the moment. For Erica, Brian's remarkable ability to provide unwavering support and vulnerability brought calm to any challenges they faced. As their two years at business school came to an end, Brian's decision to follow Erica to Atlanta demonstrated the depth of his feelings for her.
