How We Met

It’s interesting that everyone always ask us this question. But we both were attending the same congregation when we met. Chap was there for about a year before my family and I decided to move & switch halls. I was pretty much reserved at the time, and he was too so we never really crossed paths. Also this was during the time when we were still on zoom for our Christian meetings, so it was kind of hard to get to know anyone. Once we started attending the meetings in-person, everyone still had on their masks so it still took some time to adjust. I remember my friend visited the hall and she knew Chap & his family from a previous congregation they attended together in Silver Spring. At this time, Chap & I still didn’t really know each other. They shared some words after the meeting and I remember her saying “you guys haven’t met each other yet?”. And then he told her, "We saw each other, but we never spoke". So she formally introduced us and then we both went on our way. We actually didn’t talk at all until months later we both had a part on the Ministry school. We both were outside after the meeting and I told him he did a good job on his part. He said thank you, you too. He then asked me how’s everything and I told him about my plans to be a travel nurse soon in North Carolina. He told me he worked for IT. We talked for some time outside and then we both hugged and went our separate ways. It wasn’t until we saw each other at the assembly, where we exchanged numbers. But we still didn’t text each other. Then one Thursday night after the meeting, Chap texted me and invited me to go out to eat with him and one of his friends. I was with my mom at the time so we both met up there. We talked, we laughed, we smiled, it was really a nice evening. He texted me to see if I got home safely and I responded back letting him know my mom & I were safe. That night we never stopped texting. It went on to the next day, & the next day, & the next day, and the day after that, and so on. Then we started FaceTiming each other, having “FT dates” and everything. Friends at the Kingdom hall started seeing us talk more often after the meeting and that’s when all the questions started flowing in. Chap & I were very private with our relationship and that’s one of the things that I loved while going through our dating process. In all, our love continued to grow for each other and now we are less than 3 months away from saying I do and spending the rest of our lives together. We thank Jehovah for our union and we appreciate our friends and family who have played a role in helping us come together. See you all on our special day. ♥️
