Wedding Update

Dearest family and friends, Patrick and I got married on August 8th, 2020 with our immediate family and bridal party by our sides. We wished we could have had everyone present, but we are so excited to celebrate our marriage with you all a year later! We have a reception booked at the Abraham Lincoln Hotel in Springfield, IL for August 7th, 2021. That way, those we love who were unable to be there for the wedding will still be able to celebrate with us! Hope to see you there! Emily and Patrick

Our Story

It all started in October of 2010. Emily was going to a haunted hayride with her friends, and Tanner (Em's Bridesman), asked if his friend (Patrick Nelson) could join. Emily knew Patrick because they both grew up going to the same church, their mom's taught Sunday School together, and they got confirmed together. Of course Emily said "Yes!" to Patrick coming along. Little did she know, there was no room in Mary's Jeep for more people. So the two smallest people (Emily and Patrick) got stuck riding in the trunk of the Jeep together and they hit it off! Later that night, Emily was staying at her friend Meg's house. Emily received a text message from a random number. It was Patrick! They texted all night long! *Three months later... On January 8th, 2011, Patrick was dropping Emily off at Meg's house since her car was parked there. Before Emily got out of the car, Patrick asked "Will you be my girlfriend?" She said "Yes!!" *More than seven years later... On October 21st, 2018, Patrick's sister Elisha (Em's Matron of Honor) had planned a brunch with her family and Emily's family to celebrate her marriage with Craig Miller (Patrick's Groomsman). During the brunch, Patrick made a toast to Lisha and Craig, the newlyweds... "So I wish you guys a lifetime of happiness together, I'm happy for you guys. Craig, thank you for taking care of Lisha all the time and keeping her happy. Lisha I think you picked a winner. I'm looking forward to having another brother. I'm really excited about the new addition to the family, and with that being said, I want to see if I can make another. Emily will you marry me?" *Cue Emily bawling her eyes out* She said "Yes!!" to forever!
