Travel Note
There are many ways to get to wonderful Martha's Vineyard! The most common way that people travel to the Island is driving to Woods Hole, and taking the Steamship Authority Ferries over to the Island. These are large car ferries that run throughout the day, every day. If you do not want or need to take a car onto the Island, you can drive to the Steamship Authority's long-term parking lots located in Falmouth. From there, take the free shuttle to Woods Hole, and come across on the ferry as a passenger. There are two lots that operate during the Summer. The Palmer Avenue lot and the Thomas B. Landers lot. Both of these lots are subject to availability, and you will most likely be directed to the Thomas B. Landers lot (the larger lot). During the Summer, there are direct flights from Boston, New York City, and Washington DC, to Martha's Vineyard. Additionally, there are a few fast ferry options as well. The Sea Streak fast ferry goes from New York City directly to the island. This ferry typically leaves on Friday at 3pm from the East River and arrives on Martha's Vineyard by 9pm. The Ferry then returns to New York City on Sunday. There are also fast ferry options from Quonset, RI, and New Bedford, MA. If you do not choose to bring a car onto the Island, the public transportation on the island is free, and provides access across the entire island, and directly to the wedding venue. Please see the links for specific travel options below!
Travel Note
Martha’s Vineyard is an island and the only way Maddy and Jake would get on island growing up was by driving up the cape to take the car ferry from Woodshole.
