Question

How early should I arrive to the ceremony?

Answer

The Cathedral requests that you arrive at least 20-30 minutes before the wedding Mass. The doors will lock 10 minutes before the wedding and will be unlocked once the ceremony starts.

Question

Where do I park by the Cathedral?

Answer

There are multiple options: Street parking: there is plenty of street parking available around the Cathedral (meters are rarely enforced) Capitol tower parking garage: the capitol tower garage is located just south of the Cathedral on the same block. It is located at 206 E 9th St. and accessed off San Jacinto Blvd. Entrance to the Cathedral from the garage is through the Donohue Center Gym and located on Elevator Floor #2. You can validate your ticket in the Donahue Center Gym at the kiosk by the elevator bank door. Texas capitol visitors' garage: 2 blocks away and is an economical option on most days. It is located at 1201 San Jacinto Blvd.

Question

Where should we go during the break between the ceremony and reception?

Answer

See the "things to do" tab for some of our recommendations around town to try! For some indoor activities, try visiting the Texas Capitol or the Bob Bullock (Texas History) Museum.

Question

Where do I park by the Mansion (reception venue)?

Answer

We encourage carpooling and ride sharing (e.g., Uber, Lyft) as possible due to limited parking. However, we have reserved two parking lots for those that need to drive: Parking garage: The parking garage is located at 2401 Longview St,. just 0.2 miles away from the venue. Google Maps often brings guests to the front of the building, however, it is actually located in the back. We will have a sign out in the front driveway of the reception venue with a QR code that can be scanned to pull up the exact coordinates. Neill-Cochran house museum parking lot: we have reserved the parking lot of the Neill-Cochran house museum directly next door to the reception venue (2310 San Gabriel St, Austin, TX 78705). Cars are able to be parked here until 11:00PM.

Question

Can I bring my children to the wedding reception?

Answer

Due to capacity considerations, only children included in the RSVP or under 2 years old are encouraged to attend the wedding reception. Please note the venue does not provide high chairs. However, all children are welcome to attend the wedding mass. We appreciate your understanding!

Question

What is the significance of the Wedding Mass?

Answer

The Catechism of the Catholic Church describes marriage as a sacred covenant in which a man and woman form an intimate communion of life and love, established and guided by the Creator (CCC 1660). This sacrament reflects Christ’s union with the Church, offering grace to deepen love, strengthen their bond, and guide them toward eternal life. Marriage places the couple in a public vocation within the Church, so it is fitting that the celebration takes place publicly, within a liturgical setting, in the presence of a priest, witnesses, and the faithful assembly.
