Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Yes! We are asking all guests to wear black (formal or black tie) attire to the wedding. This can be any material, but we just ask that what you wear is appropriate for a wedding! We do know that temperatures in Texas in August will be hot, but luckily the ceremony and reception are indoors! :) For women, dresses can have a pattern, but we ask that it be mostly black! (AKA not a white dress with black flowers, but instead a black dress with small white flowers would be fine!) Plain black is preferred, but we want you to feel comfortable in whatever outfit you choose to wear! For men, black pants and a white or black dress shirt is appropriate, or even a black suit or tux if you so choose!

Question

What is considered black tie or formal wear?

Answer

Formal Wear: Men: Can refer to a range of styles, including a black tie, but also includes a formal suit and tie. This may be worn in situations where "black tie" is not specified but a formal dress code is still expected. Women: In addition to the evening gowns suitable for black tie, formal wear can include elegant cocktail dresses or sophisticated ensembles appropriate for formal occasions. Black Tie Attire: Men: Typically consists of a black tuxedo, a white dress shirt, a black bow tie, black patent leather shoes, and optional accessories like a cummerbund or waistcoat. Women: Formal evening gowns are standard, often floor-length, but cocktail dresses or dressy separates can also be acceptable, especially in less traditional settings. Fabrics are usually luxurious, such as silk or satin, with darker colors being preferred.
