Downtown Las Vegas is a lively, historic district known for its vintage casinos, neon lights, and the vibrant Fremont Street Experience. It blends old-school Vegas charm with modern entertainment, art, and dining. Bring your camera for the wild and crazy sights you’ll see. Guy spent quite a bit of his police days in this area - ask him about his friend Mary!
Fremont Street is one of the oldest streets in Las Vegas, dating back to 1905 when the city was founded. It became the heart of downtown Las Vegas and gained fame in 1931 after Nevada legalized gambling. Home to iconic casinos like the Golden Nugget and Binion's, Fremont Street was the first paved street in the city and hosted the first traffic light. In 1995, the Fremont Street Experience was created—a massive LED canopy and pedestrian mall—to revitalize the area and preserve its vintage charm while adding modern attractions. Belinda & Guy used to cruise Fremont Street before it was officially closed to through-traffic.
Experience Downtown Container Park, an open-air shopping center filled with boutique retail shops, unique restaurants, and live entertainment for the whole family. From gourmet quick service dining at Downtown Terrace to award-winning cocktails from Oak & Ivy, there’s something for everyone. Kids will love the interactive playground featuring The Treehouse, and adults can relax while enjoying free concerts, movies, and more on the main stage.
The Mob Museum, officially known as the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, is located in downtown Las Vegas. Housed in a historic 1933 courthouse, it offers immersive exhibits on the history of organized crime and law enforcement in the U.S., featuring artifacts like the St. Valentine's Day Massacre wall and a Prohibition-era speakeasy.
The Neon Museum features signs from old casinos and other businesses displayed outdoors on 2.27 acres. Founded in 1996, The Neon Museum achieved accreditation by the American Alliance of Museums (AAM) in 2021, the highest national honor for museums in the United States. Belinda & Guy have grown up watching these marvels go up and be taken down to their final resting place! Their parents worked at many casinos whose expired signs are likely found at this museum: Silver Slipper, Desert Inn, Binion's Horseshoe, Riviera, Dunes, Tropicana, Silver Nugget, Stardust, Frontier, and Texas - to name a few!
The National Atomic Testing Museum (Atomic Museum), is a national science, history, and educational institution that tells the story of America’s nuclear weapons testing program at the Nevada Test Site. While there, you will see the name of Belinda's grandfather, Leonard Yelinek, on some of the historic documents.
VIVA! LAS VEGAS! This is the world-famous stretch of Las Vegas Boulevard known for its dazzling resorts, casinos, and nonstop entertainment. Lined with themed hotels, neon lights, and iconic landmarks, it’s the vibrant heart of the city’s tourism and nightlife.
Hoover Dam, located in the Black Canyon of the Colorado River on the border between Nevada and Arizona, is a monumental concrete arch-gravity dam constructed between 1931 and 1936 during the Great Depression. Standing 726 feet tall and stretching 1,244 feet across, it created Lake Mead, the largest reservoir in the U.S., and continues to provide hydroelectric power, water storage, and flood control for the Southwest.
Lake Mead NRA offers diverse recreational activities, drawing visitors from across the country. The area spans over 1.5 million acres of desert landscapes, two reservoirs (Lake Mead and Lake Mohave), and unique geological features. The ghost town of St. Thomas, Nevada, located within Lake Mead NRA, offers a unique glimpse into the region's history. Once submerged under Lake Mead, the town has reemerged as water levels have receded, revealing a 2-mile loop trail with interpretive signage.
This is where Belinda & Guy got engaged! A favorite spot for them to have dinner and go dancing. The Village features many restaurants, live entertainment, and water sport rentals for kayaking, paddle boards, and electric boats.
Home of the Atomic Duck! Be sure to ask Belinda's Uncle Lenny to tell you the story of the atomic bomb testing light that is still in place today on Main Street. The Yelinek Family settled in Las Vegas because Belinda's grandfather worked for the Atomic Energy Commission. Abel Baker Brewery pays tribute to this era.
