We met through a church dating app called Mutual. I was doing an online class from Utah for BYU-Hawaii for spring and stayed throughout the summer. I decided to try the app and make new friends. I was surprised when I received Garrett's message that he is interested in getting to know me. We found some common things about each other and decided to go out on a date. Our first date was at Cherry Hill. I was timid, but we really enjoyed our time. I invited Garrett to go on a second date at Pineview. We keep texting each other, but I was unsure of my feelings. As about time for me to go back to Hawaii, I decided to keep our relationship as friends. About a month later, I realized I love the way Garrett cares and listens to me. He is always very supportive and has a sweet and family central personality. Garrett stopped texting me for a period of time, and I was prompted to talk to him and shared what I truly felt about him. On October 16, 2020, we were officially dating. Long-distance relationship has been challenging. Grateful for technology, we were able to communicate and do some virtual dates for about a year. Garrett visited Hawaii for the first time in April 2021. We are finally able to go on actual dates together. In June 2021, I visited Eden to meet Garrett's family for the first time. We have been considering marriage, and we are excited for that day to come.
Garrett and I decided things will get easier if we are closer to each other. We came with a thought, Belinda could transfer school to Weber State University and finishes her study there. We prayed and fast and Belinda started applying to transfer to Weber State University in July. Seems hard, in the beginning, considering the tuition cost to study at Weber State is pricey without a scholarship. With fast and prayer, we were finally able to work it with some help from Garrett's family. Belinda got accepted to Weber State at the beginning of September with a scholarship. Belinda will transfer to Weber State beginning in Spring 2022. Belinda made it to Utah and moved to Eden 2 weeks before Christmas. Garrett and I have been talking about engagement and marriage ever since we decided for me to move to Utah. We are anticipating the day we are finally engaged. On Christmas morning, we both woke up and were still in our pajamas. We are getting ready to open Christmas presents with Garrett's parents and his two sisters. As soon we all opened our presents, Garrett said "I have one last present for Belinda". In front of his family, Garrett get on his knee, pulled out the ring from his Christmas hat that he wore, and said "Belinda Tony-Razendra, will you marry me?" I was really surprised with teary eyes, I said "Yes" and hug Garrett. We shared the good news with close family and friends. We are both very excited about our big day.
