The Couple’s friendship started at St. Norbert College where both Bob & Erin were athletes with Erin competing in both Cross Country and Track while Bob took part in Field (the second portion of Track & Field). Even though Track & Field season did not begin until January, the esteemed Coach Augustine started off-season workout and conditioning sessions in the fall. It was here that Bob met Lindsay Wiebe, who also happened to be Erin’s roommate. They quickly became friends and bonded over their hatred for anything that involved running. One day Bob went to visit Lindsay and then met her roommate Erin. Bob & Erin immediately “clicked” through their shared sense of humor and outgoing personalities, and became very close friends. The friendship between the Couple only became stronger throughout the following four years at St. Norbert and they continued to stay in touch after graduation. Bob’s job as an auditor had him making regular trips down to Chicago and the surrounding area where they would meet up for drinks and to catch-up. Eventually, as one thing led to another, they realized that what they had was stronger than a normal friendship and began dating in January, 2015.
The Couple planned a weekend trip up to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to visit a few breweries and get dinner at one of their favorite restaurants. Bob had decided the night before that this trip would also be when and where he asked Erin to marry him. After a romantic dinner overlooking Lake Michigan, Bob asked Erin if she wanted to go for short walk near the shoreline. She quickly agreed since he normally wasn’t very willing to do so when she asked, almost nightly (which should have tipped her off that something about that night was different). After some time they reached an open area which looked like as good of a spot as any. While Erin was turned around looking out at the lake, Bob pulled the ring box out of his pocket, got down on one knee, and “popped the question.” The question was met with tears but, lucky for Bob, they were the right kind. She obviously said “YES” and the rest is history!
