Casey & I met freshman year on a sunrise hike of Buffalo mountain in Floyd County, VA. We became good friends the spring of our freshman year after a spring break trip to Houston. At the end of freshman year, I asked him if we were more than friends & he said no.. (little did he know hehe). Throughout sophomore and the beginning of junior year, I wrestled through my feelings for him and tried to play it cool anytime he would talk to me, text me or even look at me at get-togethers, I wouldn't admit to my girlfriends that I still had a crush on him (but they totally knew I was head over heels still). Throughout college & even before, I had prayed for a man that loved the Lord and would pursue me as Christ did the church; constant and unrelenting, willing to lay down His desires and even lay His life down for His bride. I prayed boldly for a boyfriend/husband for years and during college. In the days leading up to him asking me out, Casey often popped in my mind. 4 days later he asked me on a date!! The Lord answered years of prayers with Casey Taylor and although Casey is not perfect and will never be, he seeks to pursue me as Christ does & shows the grace of Jesus to me everyday! I can't wait to be his wife!
Jules tells me that we met on a sunrise hike of the Buffalo our Freshman year at Virginia Tech. I'm still not sure if I believe her, I always thought it was Bald Knob... anywaaay, that’s when we first met. I was once asked the first thing I remember about Jules and I remember thinking, "Dang, this girl is a wild driver." I also thought "How much can you really like Justin Bieber's Christmas album anyway??" It wasn't until after our spring break trip that I really noticed Jules' fun loving character, stunning good looks, and our shared love of old country music. I spent the last month of our Freshman year wanting to be around Jules as often as I could. Jules asked me where my head and heart were really at in terms of our relationship, but I was not ready to seriously date anyone. I spent the following year genuinely devoted to pursuing Jesus, learning more about who I am in Christ, and seeking my Lord's desires for my life. Towards the end of that year, in Spring 2019, I took the semester off from Virginia Tech. Every so often, I would pray that God would prepare the heart of my future wife. At the time I didn’t know I was praying for Jules. But she was still on my mind – She was the only girl I called to catch up with the semester I was away, and I was so happy to hear from her. The first time that I saw her again that Fall of 2019 was the day I realized the love I felt for her. We were on the back patio at our Pastor’s house for a cookout, and as soon as I saw her, I rushed over to get the seat next to her so I could spend the evening catching up with her. A few weekends later we planned on taking a weekend trip to go to a concert with our friends. Over the weekend my feelings for Jules built up until I couldn’t take it anymore, and I knew it was finally time for me to ask Jules on a date. I was so nervous to ask her, but she said yes, and I was so happy! I could not be more grateful for the Lord’s perfect timing and how he redeemed Jules’ and I’s relationship.
