Just two young adults making their way through life, working their first jobs and figuring out how the world works. Kaytlyn began working at her first job and almost a year later, Richard started working in the same department. After some misunderstandings and judging books by their covers, the two became friends and would talk regularly. They had gone to the same high school for a few years, never crossing each other’s paths though she remembered seeing him around school. Richard offered to join Kaytlyn after a last minute cancellation with a friend to a local pizza place, she hesitated but really wanted that pizza so she decided to give him a chance hoping he wasn’t crazy. After work, they nervously went to their destination, aware they’d be closing soon. The two quickly talked over a large pepperoni pizza in an empty room, enjoying each other’s company and sharing details of each other’s lives. With the pizza place closing, they grabbed their belongings and wasn’t ready for the night to be over. They sat in the car for a couple hours just talking. Talking about childhoods, family’s, hobbies and dreams. Eventually it came time to go their separate ways for the night. Something changed that night, she started to see him in a different light. As the months went by, their friendship grew stronger and feelings grew deeper. He quickly became a steady, consistent and safe place for her. Kaytlyn had gone on a trip to Chicago with her mom and sister and had a blast! But there was something on her mind the whole time she was gone, something was calling to her. After an amazing time spent in The Windy City, it didn’t take long for Richard to plan an official first date. A couple Redbox movies, orange Sunkist and again, pizza. After staying up until the early hours laughing and getting to know each other on a deeper level, they went to her favorite breakfast place the next morning. After that night, it was decided. Richard and Kaytlyn were gonna give it a shot and see what life could be like with each other. While working together, they hid their relationship from co-workers in hopes to avoid consequences and unsupportive opinions. They wanted their connection to build naturally. It took several months before they gave in and shared the news of their relationship. After a couple years, they decided it was time to try living together. He moved into the home she once shared with her mom at the time, the same house that belonged to her maternal grandparents. Taking their time, navigating the new dynamics of their relationship, they continued to evolve, intertwining their lives together. A couple new jobs, a few more cats, countless pizzas and new traditions in place. It’s been said that “Time flys when you’re having fun” and boy were they right. Before Richard and Kaytlyn knew it, 10 years had flown by. Tying each other’s lives together and joining themselves in marriage was the natural next step, and that brings us to today. Excited to spend this time with their friends and family sharing their love story and having fun celebrating their matrimonial union.
