This was actually our first "date"! It's just a walk from where we met, and it boasts our beloved Lake Michigan, where we spent many a day and night playing beach volleyball with our coworkers, laying under the stars, and bodysurfing.
We met at this very age-old building! Scooping ice cream over three summers made us our closest friends (see: Bridesmaids and Groomsmen) and ultimately is the reason we're where we are today. We can't even begin to describe the love we have for this building and its people.
All your Holland-area tourist needs lay here! Stores offering goods from Dutch-American cuisine, cider donuts, coffee art, artisan clothes, and camping gear litter this downtown area (not to mention it's beautiful). We spent our one year anniversary here - we recommend Crust54 and Bowerman's on 8th.
If you're an art lover, this is one of Kate's favorite spots. Grand Rapids boasts a wondrous art museum, and it is perfectly positioned to interact with the bustling downtown area (two birds with one stone!).
Just a walk away from Kate's apartment, the John Ball Zoo is a favorite for Kate's bridesmaid (and roommate) Madilyn whenever she babysits. That is to say, if you have young children, this is the perfect place to visit!
