It was truly a clichéd start. See, we met in a bar. But not just any bar. A bar 4,000 miles away from home. And even though we’d both been at UNC - living in the same dorm no less - for a year and a half, it wasn’t until we both ended up in London for a semester that we ran into each other. But this wasn’t one of those love-at-first-sight stories. Sydney thought Erik was funny. Erik thought Sydney was annoying. As chance would have it, a few days later, we ended up spending the day together walking around the British Museum. We don’t remember too much of what we saw, only that we talked for hours. The next thing we knew, we were hanging out day in and day out. Visiting more museums, traveling, seeing West End shows, and, yes, spending many nights in more bars across the city, sharing stories deep into the night. It was the beginning of what we thought was just a beautiful friendship. Back home, people were beginning to get suspicious. People who knew us thought there was something more there. In the shock of the century (to us, at least), it turns out everyone was right. There was something more there. A few months later, back in the United States, we realized what everyone else already saw. We were best friends, partners in crime, two people truly in love. And so, five years and a few states later, we wanted to celebrate our love with you.
