We met on the streets of London, Carnaby Street. After a night of partying at Zebranos, my friend and I left only to be approached by Anoop's best friend Rikki. Rikki asked us for directions to another bar and soon I started talking to Anoop. We discovered that all of us, including Anoop's friends and work colleagues Chris and Anish all lived in Harrow and that Anoop lived 2 mins away from me. Whilst speaking to Anoop, I found out that he attended my rivalling high school many years before. I was unimpressed and so was he. We went on to have a passionate and heated debate about Whitmore high and Rooks Heath High School, also known as Shitmore and Crooks Heath. Suddenly, Rikki interrupted and said "oh just give your number already! We want to go". Clearly he wasn't entertained by the conversation. However, this caught me off guard and I was not prepared to give my made-up reason for why I can't give my number. Such as, Sorry I have a boyfriend or sorry I just got out of a 10-year relationship, so I just gave my real number instead. And that night Anoop messaged me to check if I got home okay. And the rest was history...
For our third year Anniversary, Anoop whisked me away to Rome. We had already been to Rome the year before and absolutely loved it. We chucked a coin into the Trevi Fountain and vowed to come back again. So when I found out that we would be spending our anniversary in Rome, I was thrilled. The day before our anniversary, we decided to head to the Villa Borghese for a spot of sightseeing, however, on our way there, we got stuck in torrential rain with no cover other than a pathetic tree. What upset me the most was not the fact that I was soaking wet, or that my feet were sliding out of my pretty but unpractical sandal, but the fact that I started to feel slightly ill, on our first day on holiday. Once we were back in the hotel and dry, Anoop informed me that we will need to leave the hotel at 6 am tomorrow for a fancy breakfast. Half of me was excited but the half thought what a ridiculous thing to do. To book a fancy place so earlier in the morning means that I would have wake up at 4.30 am to try and look somewhat decent, whilst feeling ill. Waking up that morning on our anniversary day, Anoop greeted me with some cute heart-shaped cards that told me all the reasons why he loves me. If anyone knows me then they will know that I hate waking up before sunrise and can be quite grumpy before 10 am. I was ready to have a go at him for not considering how his terrible planning schedule would affect me, but as Anoop was armed with so much affection in his words, I decided to bite my tongue and be grateful. So I just got ready to an acceptable standard, by half straightening my hair and not even ironing my dress.
We left the hotel and as we walked towards the restaurant we stumbled across the beautiful Trevi Fountain. My favourite place in Rome. Last year we visited the Trevi Fountain every day of our holiday and even had our special spot. I gleamingly ran over to our spot and noticed that there wasn't a single person in sight, which was unusual for the usually packed monument. However not this morning. It was peacefully empty and quiet. I took out my camera and started taking photos. Anoop then handed me a coin, we closed our eye, chucked the coin behind us into the fountain and vowed again to return once more. I opened my eyes to find Anoop on one knee with a small box in his hand. I dropped my Canon camera in surprise and began to weep. He said some lovely things, which I couldn't hear over my uncontrollable crying and then he ask me to marry, to which I obviously said yes. We rejoiced, and then he showed me a plaque that had engraved the blessing from my family. I was bewildered. I didn't even know that he had met my fai & baa. That sneaky bugger. I soon found out that we were caught on camera, by a hidden and hired photographer. We did end up having a lovely fancy breakfast overlooking the Trevi Fountain followed by a chocolate body scrub and massage with a bottle of champagne in a warm jacuzzi.
