We will be wearing our fancy wedding clothes. You might want to join us in being fancy, but 'dressy casual' is also great! It might be useful to think of garden party attire. We really want our guests to wear whatever makes them feel comfortable, happy and perhaps a little special. . Please bear in mind our ceremony venue is an an outdoor space, with uneven ground and most guests will be walking up the hill afterwards to get to the reception area. Consider your footwear! September/October weather in Charlottesville is variable! It could potentially be 50°-78°Fahrenheit / 10°-25°Celsius, but in Virginia it's always worth preparing for a very hot day or sudden rain. Bring sunscreen and sunglasses for our outdoor ceremony. Feel free to dress your kids (and yourself) in clothing suitable for playing outside in!
Absolutely
Charlottesville has many lovely airbnbs and an abundance of hotels at a range of different prices. We are not reserving rooms at any particular hotel, however if you have any questions about a hotel or location, please feel free to ask us. If you want to experience the charms of Charlottesville, you may enjoy staying near the university, or near the downtown walking mall, or anywhere on the mile-long stretch of West Main Street which runs between them. For budget hotels you might want to take a look at Holiday Inn Charlottesville-Monticello, Sleep Inn and Suites Monticello which are about a five minute drive from where we live and a 10 minute drive from downtown. For more of a B&B vibe Fairhaven Guesthouse is a nice option. On the pricey end of the scale, hotels here include The Quirk and The Graduate.
Our three-years-late 'wedding' will be a laid back celebration at a summer camp! Expect an outdoor ceremony and buffet food in the camp dining hall followed by dancing. We're so thrilled that our friends and family will be able to celebrate with us at last!
Your presence at our celebration (and in our lives) is a gift in itself. There is zero obligation to give us anything else. But for those who would like to, we have both a traditional registry and a 'Kindness Registry' where you can volunteer to do things like babysit or help us to bring our DIY celebration together.
