Emily and Noah met in Chapel Hill through Emily's graduate school friend Hannah Henderson (bridesmaid), who had been Noah's teammate on the Rhodes College cross country team. One of Emily and Noah's first dates was the UNC School of Medicine's Winter Gala, which would become their favorite event to attend together each year. They continued dating, growing close while studying at coffee shops, cooking new recipes, and enjoying the outdoors. Noah loved Emily's upbeat and happy nature, and Emily was drawn to Noah's sense of adventure. After spending their first Valentine's Day together driving a U-haul to Asheville, they both knew they'd go the distance for each other.
Emily and Noah were constantly on the go for the first part of their relationship: they took numerous CPA and medical school exams, drove hundreds of miles to see each other, and even travelled internationally together. Through all of that, Chapel Hill remained their special place. In May 2020, Noah told Emily that he wanted to "visit campus one more time" before moving to Salt Lake City for residency. Emily suspected what was going on, though, after her friend Danja (Maid of Honor), insisted on a virtual manicure party the day before the trip. Noah and Emily strolled through campus and eventually made their way to the beautiful Coker Arboretum, where he proposed. Neither remembers exactly what Noah said, but of course Emily said yes!
After the proposal, Noah moved to Salt Lake City to begin his residency in general surgery at the University of Utah Hospital. COVID delayed wedding planning for the time being, and Emily had to wait six months to transfer her job to Grant Thornton's Salt Lake office. Fast forward to today, and they both love "living life elevated." In Utah, Emily and Noah like to ski, hike, and take on home improvement projects for their 119-year-old house. A month after moving into their new (really old) home, Tallie, their black goldendoodle puppy, took over everything. It's a good thing Emily is easygoing because Tallie and Noah have only two modes: full speed ahead, or fast asleep. Emily and Noah have been dreaming of getting all of their family and friends together to celebrate their marriage for two years now, and can't wait for the big day!
