Asheville has an abundance of hiking trails. If you're an outdoorsy type, this is the way to go to relax and breathe in some natural and clean air! Simply google hiking trails and you will be able to find one that suits your needs regarding trail difficulty and length. Some of my favorites are: -Black Balsam Knob -Skinny Dip Falls -Looking Glass Rock -Mountains-to-Sea -Craggy Gardens -Triple Falls -Bent Creek Trail (great for running/biking)
This is a wonderful attraction for if you have a day to spare and you have children with you that need to be entertained!
Yummy food & yummy beers
A Maggie Valley MUST for delicious breakfast - be prepared to wait though...
October 19th & 20th: Maggie Valley’s largest gathering of artisans and crafters come together to sell their handmade treasures. Artisans from all over the Southeast will be in attendance. Chainsaw art demonstrations and lots of festival food. Seasonal items, yard art, paintings, photography, pottery, wooden bowls, furniture, jewelry, goat milk soaps and more will be featured at the event. “There really is something for everyone, from the most affordable handicrafts, to the more expensive museum quality items,” says Teresa Smith, promoter of the event. “Even if you don’t plan on buying anything, its fun just to walk around and see the amazing variety of unique items – but rarely do you see anyone leaving without something in their hands.” The Maggie Valley Arts & Crafts Festivals is one of the longest running and most popular events held in Maggie Valley.
Elevated Mountain Distilling Company is a craft distiller of top-shelf whiskeys and spirits based in Maggie Valley, NC. We are located where America’s favorite drive meets America’s most visited park! The name, Elevated Mountain, reflects the fact that Haywood County has the highest average median elevation (3600 ft.) of any county east of the Rockies. Due to our high elevation, all our natural water originates within Haywood County. Maggie Valley is the most elevated incorporated valley in the United States at 3020 feet! Half of Maggie Valley’s water is sourced from Campbell Creek which flows from Waterrock Knob on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The other half flows from Fie Creek and Jonathan Creek, which border the Great Smoky Mountain National Park.
