HER VERSION: In 2019, my cousin Rumbi felt like I needed a relationship with a good guy and she thought of someone we used to know in our past. Someone we used to hang out when we were younger. And she thought of Anesu. She slid into his DMs on my behalf and he texted me. We spoke for a bit here and there, and I remember always feeling excited to hear from him. I didn't understand it at the time, but I see now it was always God's hand in our lives. Then we had this conversation about anime one day and we didn't stop talking since. We spoke every single day from that day and our conversations evolved from being about anime, to our dreams, to where we grew up, to our beliefs. And even though it didn't make sense at all being that we were so far apart, we continued becoming closer. I always felt safe with him and like I could tell him anything. In 2022, we were able to meet in person, and all the love I felt over the phone was amplified.

HIS VERSION: We met in person once in 2008 in Zimbabwe by her cousins house which was surprisingly a couple of houses from where I grew up and then we officially started talking to each other in 2020 whilst she was in Korea and I was in Malaysia. I then asked her out in August 2020, we were in a long distance relationship for 2 years during COVID, she officially came back to SA in 2022 then I soon followed and went to SA on 6 March 2022. So we officially met in person on this day 6 March 2022 in South Africa.
