We cant recall the actual date back in 2014 that we both noticed each other, but he definitely noticed me first! The beginning of our high school day consisted of us going to Oakland Schools Technical Campus where we learned Culinary Arts. He would come up to me; ask me questions, and try to teach me different culinary techniques but I was unbothered by his attempts to flirt with me. One day in class he was assigned to help me saute onions and as a trade I helped him with his math homework. Shortly after, a friendship started to form. Fast forward to him asking for my phone number and me thinking nothing of it. We quickly began to talk everyday and he would even wait for me to arrive to school every morning before getting dressed into his chef uniform. I then asked him to be my prom date and the rest is history.
On October 17, 2020 (six and a half year anniversary) we went out to dinner at London Chophouse in Downtown Detroit. Mark stepped away from the table to go to the "restroom". Shortly after I hear the opening instrumental to Bruno Mars’; Marry You, and my sister shows up to the table with a red stem rose. Followed by a host of other family and friends who each presented me with a rose a piece. Mark appeared suddenly after everyone with a beautiful speech and asked me to marry him and of course, I said yes!
