What to Eat & Do
Driftwood Room
This is one of our favorite restaurants. The menu is always changing, but our absolute favorite item is the butternut squash and mushroom spaetzle! It is almost life-changingly good. The restaurant and bar is located in the Hotel deLuxe. If at all possible, street parking is way cheaper than the parking garage.
Ramen Ryoma Beaverton
This place has some of the best ramen in the area and is connected to an Asian grocery store that is extremely fun to browse, even if you don't intend on buying anything.
Hillsboro Swagat Indian Cuisine
We love Swagat Indian Cuisine! There are multiple locations in the area, so you can find the one that's closest to you. Their lunch deals are the best, but they are good any time. We haven't found a dish that wasn't amazing. They have lots of vegan options as well as meat options. Hannah's favorites are the masala dosa and vegetable samosas (a little too spicy for some people). Julia's favorites are the chicken thali lunch (thali means it comes with a bunch of side dishes, like in the picture) and the tandoori chicken thali dinner!
Yama Sushi & Sake Bar
This is our favorite sushi restaurant! Must order items include fresh wasabi (not the dyed green horseradish stuff), the orange blossom roll or the sake bomb roll, and the salmon nigiri (incredible!). We go here for most big occasions, like birthdays and anniversaries!
Flora
Flora is a new reservation-only cocktail bar in Beaverton up above Local Legion, a brewery. We love the cozy atmosphere and delicious, creative drinks. The only downside is that they don't serve food at the bar.
Oregon Zoo
Fun fact: We love the Oregon Zoo so much that we are members and go multiple times a year! It is right next to the Japanese Gardens and the Rose Garden!
International Rose Test Garden
This is a fun, free place to go look at beautiful flowers from May to October. It's only a short drive from Hillsboro. It is right next to the Japanese Gardens and the zoo!
Portland Japanese Garden
This is right next to both the Rose Garden and the zoo. You do have to pay to get in, but it is absolutely beautiful year round.
Pacific City Beach
This isn't like a California beach! It's almost always windy, the water is freezing (seriously, you can get hypothermia), and it's often cold. We love it though! It's about a 2 hour drive from Hillsboro, so this is a fun day trip.
