After 10 years of wishing each other "happy anniversary" we decided to celebrate with a trip to Puerto Rico! Friday, April 19. Our self-planned itinerary had us rent a car from San Juan and drive an hour to ToroVerde to brave “The Monster” Zipline. We buckled up for the twists, turns, steep climbs, and tall drop-offs of the small mountain roads and fast moving locals. Our arrival at the lodge was met with strapping into harnesses, ropes for seemingly every limb, helmets and our trusty go-pros. Crossing a 300 foot rope bridge was the first test. Climbing up the tower of never ending steps, taking us higher and higher was the next. After we were conveniently out of breath and couldn’t say no, we were strapped into the horizontal “superman” harness and left to hang, looking out at our descent. It seemed an eternity we were hanging before the path was cleared for us both and then Whoosh! we were flying down the 1.57 mile long, 843 foot high “Monster”, soaring over tree tops at 60 mph. What a rush! A second zipline ride greeted us, and again we were soaring over treetops, although in the usual seated-form this time. A thrilling open-air truck ride up the rocky mountain terrain took us back to our starting point at the lodge. Handing back our equipment, our day’s adventure over, our bodies were slowly settling into the shock of such high adrenaline. Both of us opted to visit the top balcony of the lodge to take in the gorgeous scenery we had just previous flown past. Wondering whether or not to calm down with a drink from the bar, he decides to swing us around to pose for a picture in front of the mountains of Orocovis. “It’s on video,” I say as he sets up the go-pro on the nearest bar chair. “We’ll edit it down later.” I’m dancing, waiting for him, as he comes closer to pose for our photo. But instead of coming closer, he's leaning, he’s bending. He starts kneeling! He’s on one knee! “Do you want to keep this adventure going?” By now, you must know. I said “Yes”
