It was the Summer of my sophomore year and his junior year at Sweetwater High School where our path crossed. However, it's not the typical "crossing path" you're thinking of. I had such a huge crush on Marco, all while he never knew who I was. I guess you can say, for me it was "Love At First Sight." However, that sight broke one day when I saw him with another girl and my silly crush was simply crushed forever. Big Womp. :( (Now let's fast forward) Our love story actually started with a simple conversation over Facebook. I had no intentions of talking to him, but build the courage to just simply say "Hi." From there, we spent endless hours on Skype calls just talking to each other and getting to know each other. Some days he would show me what video games he was playing, other days it was him showing me his artistic abilities. We talked for hours almost every single day and one day he decided to join me on one of my study sessions. I remember that day so vividly, I was so nervous to finally see him in person that you would think someone who has been on Skype calls with him almost every single day would be just fine. But I wasn't just fine, in fact I was kind of freaking out. The moment I saw him, my entire heart and stomach was filled with butterflies. It was similar to the feeling I had when I crossed path with him in high school. I definitely wasn't wrong, this was Love At First Sight. We went to Southwestern College together where our relationship started to grow. Marco was also into cars and I wanted to invite him with my siblings and I to go to a car meet. He agreed, but only if I went on a date with him on Valentine's Day. I was a bit hesitant but I said yes and we had our very first date at Embarcadero for Valentine's Day. Few months later, on April 18, 2014, Marco took me back to Embarcadero and there he asked me to officially be his girlfriend and gave me a promise ring. The promise ring represented something he told me from the very beginning of our relationship and that was "I date you to marry you." For 10 years, we shared the highest of highs and lowest of lows. Created so many memories and celebrated so many success and milestones. One thing that never changed was the love we had for each other. On September 26, 2022, surrounded by our intimate family and our closest friends, Marco took me back to Embarcadero, our spot, and asked me to be his Wife. I was speechless and filled with so much love, it was the easiest YES ever! We can't wait to have all of you come and celebrate our love as we become Mr. & Mrs. Castaneda on January 26, 2025. Here's to the next beautiful chapter of our lives. Thank you for being a part of our amazing love story.
