Our love story began our senior year of high school. Lizzie's best friend (and current matron of honor!), Tiffany, was hanging out with Tommy and his twin brother, Cory, any moment she wasn't with Lizzie. She introduced us as friends, and the flirting began. It didn't take long before we both confided in Tiffany that we had a crush on each other; I'd say maybe 30 minutes after separating! We began dating in February of 2006 (yes... 13 YEARS AGO!). We spent our nights at the mall or goofing off in a friend's basement. While we were just getting to know each other, we were also becoming adults. Before we met, Tommy had signed with the Marines and Lizzie was applying for her dream school. We were dating just 6 months when Lizzie left for UNCW, and 7 when Tommy left Winston for Parris Island. No phone calls, no visits... just old fashioned snail mail. We still have every single letter, picture, and card sent, and they are something we will treasure forever. Fast forward 3 months, and as Lizzie finishes her first semester, Tommy graduates from basic training. Christmas comes around, and Tommy proposes. Yes, you read that right, we've been engaged before! We were young and in love and knew everything! After about five months, we made a hard decision. Just because we WANTED to get married, didn't mean we had to be married right now. Don't worry, this love story stays happy! We dated another 12 years. We have been through so much together. We have grown up and grown together in so many ways. Hardships and celebrations... we've done it together; as a team. We are so lucky to have each other's back in every situation we've come to together. December 30, 2018, Tommy finally decided to take the advice of all of his friends and family and make it official. He proposed at Sierra Nevada Brewery on a New Years getaway, and every part of it was PERFECT. Here's to the rest of our story, forever and ever.
