Postponed

We had planned to be married on August 15th, 2020 surrounded by all of our friends and family in Oregon. Unfortunately due to COVID-19 we postponed the celebration of our wedding until August 13th, 2021, where we will celebrate our marriage with you all in Oregon at McMenamin’s Edgefield. We eloped in a small ceremony in Flagstaff on our orignial date becuase you can’t cancel love. We can’t wait to celebrate with you all this year! Much love, health, and happiness to you all!

How We Met

We met through mutual friends in September of 2012. We exchanged numbers without thinking too much of our encounter, but continued to text back and forth over the next few weeks. Drew had just moved to Warsaw, Indiana to complete the Zimmer Sales Academy. Ellie was working in physical therapy clinics in Phoenix to get hours before applying for graduate school. Ellie was smitten with Drew's wittiness and charm. Drew knew she was the one when he discovered their mutual, lifelong hatred for milk on cereal (it's so soggy and sad!). We both knew the odds of a long distance relationship weren't the best, but we both thought we would be able to be in Phoenix together the following year. However, life took us even further apart. Drew's job brought him to Omaha, Nebraska and Ellie was accepted into a Physical Therapy program in Las Vegas, Nevada. Though the distance was far, we both are stubborn. We knew even though it wasn't easy or ideal, we had something real and meaningful. Despite the time and miles between us we made it through four and a half years of long distance. After Ellie graduated in May of 2016, she moved back to Phoenix and Drew joined her at the beginning of the following year.

Engagement

In the Summer of 2019 we had the opportunity to visit Europe. Drew's brother was living in Edinburgh, Scotland and the Women's World Cup was happening in France. We traveled through Scotland and London with Grady and his girlfriend, Mariah. On June 19th we were heading to do some sightseeing when we decided to walk through Hyde Park on our way to Westminster Abbey. Walking through the grounds we came to Kensington Palace. Mariah suggested we take a closer look at the gardens. We were walking around taking pictures when Drew pulled me close and thanked me for going on this adventure with him. I smiled and said "Thank you, I love our adventures." Then he knelt down on one knee and asked me if I would go on adventures with him for the rest of our lives. Through happy tears I said "Of course!" We can't wait for the adventures life has in store for us. We'd like to extend a huge thank you to both of our families. Without your love and support, this wedding wouldn't be possible.
