On an Island....Floating down the River! Scott was on his annual Intel River Float trip on the American River in Sacramento. Coincidentally, Tamara had planned a float trip with friends that day. At that time she was living and working in San Jose, but came up for the weekend to visit old college friends from UC Davis. Halfway down the river is an island that is a popular spot for people to dock their rafts and socialize. Well Tamara noticed Scott from across the island and quickly made her way over. Tamara "accidentally" bumped into him, talked to him about Intel and shared that she was working at Google (at the time) and to look her up on LinkedIn or Facebook! An hour or so flew by as the two shared laughs, smiles, and many refills of jungle juice, until it was time for Scott's group to continue floating on. As soon as Scott was back on dry land with his phone, he used it to look Tamara up online and send her a message, which was the beginning of a whole month of constantly texting back and forth before they finally went on their first date.

At Home...By Our 1st Christmas Tree! 12.01.18 - Scott and Tamara had been together almost 2.5 years at this point and both agreed that getting married "sometime soon" was a brilliant idea! Scott started researching rings a few months prior and had been asking Tamara which style rings she liked most or least. As the holidays were approaching, Tamara had a sneaking suspicion Scott might deliver a special surprise on either Christmas Day or NYE, so she was excited and anxious for the holidays to come quick! But to her pleasant surprise, Christmas came early! Scott and Tamara were setting up their first Christmas tree together in their new house. While decorating the tree, Scott got inspired to slip the ring into a pair of heart shaped ornaments - the first ornaments they hung on the tree together. Distracted by the festive holiday music and munching nuts & bolts in the kitchen, Tamara failed to notice the sparkly surprise all evening! 12.02.18 - Tamara wakes up bright and early as usual, and Scott follows her out of the bedroom. Tamara proceeds to plug in the Christmas Tree lights and right under her nose she sees the most gorgeous diamond sparkling from its hiding place nestled in the ornament. Her eyes widen, jaw drops to the floor, and she screams "Baby! Oh my god!! Is this for me?!?" Scott quickly drops to one knee and asks Tamara "Will you marry me?" Tamara screams "YES!" and he slips the ring on her finger - a perfect fit! Now that Scott had popped the question, they pop the champagne and cheers to becoming soon-to-be Mr. & Mrs. Baker!
