Monika was a transfer student and was excited to start her journey at the University of Washington in Tacoma. Little did we know, Monika and Jerrol were going to become classmates in Fall 2012 and didn't know each other. It wasn't until UW Tacoma's fall quarter student involvement fair that Monika and Jerrol officially meet. While Jerrol was working for the Student Activities Board, Monika was interested in joining a committee and became acquaintances. As the school year progresses and many school functions later, Monika and Jerrol were involved with FASA and attended the same conference at Western Washington University. They still "knew" each other, but the spark came at Night Life during the last night of the conference. They exchanged numbers on Facebook and started talking here and there. After long phone calls and venting about each other issues, the "flame" started, and Jerrol asked out Monika via Instagram (don't ask...) and started dating on Jerrol's birthday (selfish 😂)
In March 2020, Jerrol was shopping for engagement rings with his two best men, Niko and Puni. The ring was purchase, and the planning started. The original proposal plan was canceled due to COVID-19 and postponed until a future date. On July 25th, Monika and Jerrol planned a picnic at Browns Point Lighthouse (Monika's favorite park) with Jocelyn, Puni, and Becca, and watched the sunset. At that moment, Jerrol and Jocelyn were mentally on the same page... this is the place where the proposal will happen. After the picnic, deliberate planning with Jocelyn and Becca happened via Instagram DMs. After three weeks of planning, Monika was set-up to "think" it is another picnic happening. As the couple was driving to Browns Point, Jerrol awkwardly had the ring in his cargo shorts, trying to hide it as much as possible. The couple parked and walked to the location, where a lovely charcuterie board was presented. Knowing Monika, the first thing she did was eat. An hour before sunset, Jerrol wanted to take the opportunity to "take photos" with Monika. After different poses, Jerrol when down on one knee. Monika was frantically yelling and freaking out, and Jerrol popped the question. Instead of answering yes to the question, Monika's response was "FINALLLLLLLLLLY!!!!"
