We met in 2018 through a mutual friend—Christina was at NYU, Shavar was at Seton Hall—and what started as a simple introduction quickly turned into something special. Our first (unofficial) date was at a zoo, where we discovered two things: we both love animals, and we really loved spending time together. Since then, visiting zoos wherever we travel has become our little tradition—a nod to where it all began. Over the years, we’ve grown together—navigating adulthood side by side, learning from each other, laughing a lot, and building something real. We’re each other’s best friend, and doing life together feels like the greatest adventure. We’re so grateful to have found this kind of love, and we can’t wait to celebrate the next chapter with all of you.

The proposal happened in Brooklyn, NY in front of the water (pictures at the top). Christina thought that she was having a cute date to celebrate their love and the start of their new chapter overseas. She was pleasantly surprised when she found out that she was getting engaged and that both of their family/ friends were there too! Obviously, she said yes!!
