we're getting married!

August 2022 – We met on the first day of our nursing classes at the University of Saint Francis, when Lauren joined Ben’s cohort. We both noticed each other right away (and secretly thought the other was the cutest in the class), but for a while, we were just classmates and friends, navigating days of clinical and class together. January–Spring 2023 – We started spending more time together outside of class, beginning with a lunch date and study sessions. By spring, it was clear that something special was forming. June 2, 2023 – Ben officially asked Lauren to be his girlfriend, and of course she said yes. The year that followed in Fort Wayne was filled with sushi dates, Storming Crab dinners, Starbucks runs, Target trips, and countless hours together. Some of our favorite memories are the simple ones — cooking in Ben’s apartment or eating takeout while watching Dexter, motocross, or football, just enjoying being together. December 2023–June 2024 – While Lauren had already graduated and was working as a nurse, Ben was finishing school. During this time, Lauren supported him by helping him study, quizzing him, and cheering him on through finals and clinicals. After Graduation – Our relationship shifted into long distance as Ben moved back home, while Lauren continued working. Being in opposite corners of the state wasn’t easy. The hardest part was missing everyday moments together, but FaceTime calls and handwritten letters helped keep us close, no matter the miles between us. December 13, 2024 – Ben planned a private proposal at a Christmas tree farm while we were taking pictures with a photographer friend. Surrounded by snow and beautiful evergreen trees, he asked Lauren to marry him — and it was the easiest “yes” she’s ever said. March 2025 – Lauren moved to Evansville, finally bringing us back together in the same city. After all the distance, we’re so grateful to start this next chapter side by side, looking forward to a lifetime of love, laughter, and new adventures together.
