How We Met

6/18/15

Brittney and Andy met in June 2015 through a mutual friend (Katie) who had been trying to "low key" set them up for many months. She would always mention stories of one to the other, to the point that when they FINALLY went on their first date, they felt like they had known each other forever. But how did they get to that first date? It took a few tries… Attempt #1: Brittney was moving out of her first NYC apartment and was selling her outdoor furniture. Coincidentally, Andy was moving at the same time into an apartment with outdoor space. Katie, saw this as an opportunity and suggested that Andy buy the furniture from Brittney. She even went so far as to send Brittney Andy's number! In the end, Brittney gave it away to a friend. Attempt #2: Brittney got a text from Katie, telling her to come to Park Avenue Tavern in NYC. Brittney arrived at a nearly empty bar, save for one small booth that was definitely having a blast. The group in the small booth had been there for the last 6 hours. There was a work party in the city, followed by dinner, and the group had all decided to keep the party going. Brittney walked in and sat across from Andy at the booth. Andy’s Perspective: At this point in the night, I was barely able to form cohesive sentences. In a panic, I decided the best thing to do was to stay silent. My tie was still tied tight, so I at least looked presentable. She was stunning! I may have blurted out all of five words to her that night. Finally, I made my move. She got up to go to the bathroom and I bolted for the exit. Luckily for me, Brittney found herself in need of a power drill just a few days later and I happened to be the only guy in the city she "knew" who had one. I asked her out after coordinating the pick-up. "You didn't speak to me at the bar, you wouldn't sell me your rooftop furniture, and now you borrowed my drill. The least you could do is go out with me for a drink one night!" The rest is history!
