With heavy hearts, we have decided to cancel our wedding.

With very heavy hearts, we have decided that it is in everyone's best interest to cancel our wedding. In these past few weeks, COVID has surged around the country. We both work in hospitals and they are truly packed. Given the current circumstances, we feel that the potentially life threatening risk involved for our guests is not worth having a wedding for. We are so glad that we at least got to celebrate with our friends and family at the couple’s shower, and can’t wait to see everyone when the world is safe again. Unfortunately, COVID has ramped up quickly in the last few weeks, and therefore, we know that this cancellation is somewhat last minute. We understand some of our guests likely reserved hotels. Many hotels are offering refunds up to 48 hours before check in due to COVID, however if yours does not and you need help with covering the cost, please let us know as we are willing to help cover the cost or reach out to see if they will provide a refund. In addition, if you feel as though you would not have sent a gift if we were not having a wedding please let us know and we would be happy to return your gift to you. We know how excited you were to celebrate with us, and as much as we really wanted to have a “normal wedding,” COVID has become too much of a threat again. And with Tyler working in the emergency department, managing numerous COVID patients a day, we feel the risk of exposing our own guests is too high to be comfortable hosting a wedding. We appreciate everyone’s support in this extremely frustrating time. We cannot wait to see you all again in a post COVID world. Thank you for your understanding. With love and sadness, Muranda and Tyler

How We Met

In 2012, both Muranda and Tyler had decided to go on a Habitat for Humanity spring break trip alone, where they barely knew the other members of the group. After arriving in North Carolina, the group sat outside after building houses most nights around a campfire. Muranda and Tyler ended up sitting next to each other, talked about their majors, found out they both wanted to go into medicine, and spent the rest of the night talking about all of their similarities. The trip ended, and they initially went their separate ways. During finals week, Muranda noticed Tyler was sitting in her class taking a final, which she knew was out of place. She messaged him later that day, then they spent the rest of the summer sending messages online, and the rest is history!

The Proposal

Tyler did a very good job of making sure Muranda had no idea he was going to propose. He had been planning for weeks, and she never caught on. He planned for his mother and sister to invite Muranda to the Hershey Gardens on a weekend that he was going to be "at a conference" at his rotation in Williamsport. He played it off very well, including texting Muranda when he "got to his apartment" that night, even though he was just down that road staying with his parents to prepare for the big day. Muranda, Anissa, and Emily arrived at the Hershey Gardens in the morning and walked a few hundred feet off to a small path where Tyler had set up a few signs and displays with pictures. At the end of the path, Tyler was standing on a bridge, where he got down on one knee and proposed. Muranda said "absolutely," and here they are! It was very sweet, well thought out, and completely perfect.
