We met on the school bus in middle school/ high school, because our childhood homes were right down the road from each other. Donovan used to pick on me because he had a crush on me. I used to watch him walk home from my seat on the bus and pretend I was in a music video about some unrequited love because he was SO mean to me. Drama queen, much? Honestly, that part hasn't changed. Donovan graduated and joined the Navy. I graduated and went to LSU. We both came home the same year and ended up back at our childhood homes. This was back when Facebook started notifying people when their "Friends" were nearby. I received a notification that Donovan was nearby, so I took a screenshot and sent it to him. I said something pretty corny along the lines of, "Remind me never to rob a bank with my phone on me, cause Facebook will rat me out." Thankfully he thought that was funny. A few months later we went to BUKU together. We both had such severe social anxiety that we left early and spent all of our money on junk food. We stayed up all night eating the junk food and telling stupid jokes. (We literally spent ALL of our money on snacks and had to sleep in my car). When we woke up we shared a look that meant "Coffee? Coffee," and Donovan drove us straight to a Starbucks. We got our coffee, cranked up the tunes, and road tripped home. I think that was the moment we both knew, we weren't just starting our journey home, but we were starting our journey into forever.
