Meg and Lance may not have officially met until 2021, but an invisible string began tying them together long before that. The couple grew up just 12 minutes apart in Schwenksville, Pennsylvania. Meg went to Catholic school and Lance to public, so fate would have it they did not have as much opportunity to meet. However, Meg’s brother, Mike, and Lance’s brother, Evan, were classmates and played travel basketball together as kids. They and their parents remained friends over the years. Around the same time, Lance’s mom, Ursula, became close friends with Meg’s Aunt Eileen through a running club. Because of this, Meg and Lance unknowingly spent several Thanksgiving mornings at the same house at Eileen’s annual “Turkey Bowl" football tournament. Little did they know they were already spending holidays together at age 12. It wasn’t until years later that these, and many more connections came to light. Fast forward to 2021, Mike and Evan—now soon-to-be Lance’s best men—ended up living together during their sophomore year at Penn State. They hosted a tailgate with their roommates and families on a hot September morning. It was there that Meg and Lance finally met—really met—and with a little push of both of their mothers' encouragement, they instantly hit it off. They spent the entire day together, but timing wasn’t exactly on their side, as Lance had just moved to Boston only a few weeks prior and was headed back the next day. After a few months of telephone contact, they finally went on their first official date when Lance came home for the holidays. Not long after, they made it official. After two years of long distance between Boston and Philadelphia, followed by two more years of living together, Lance got down on one knee and asked Meg to spend forever with him. Looking back, it’s hard not to be convinced that their story was years in the making—shaped by family, friendship, and a few well-timed coincidences. They feel incredibly lucky it all led them to each other, and even more grateful to celebrate the next chapter surrounded by the same people who were part of the beginning. Let the party begin!
