We both grew up in Encinitas, CA not even 3 miles apart, attending the same high school and having many mutual friends. However, we didn't officially meet until some time later when we both started working at the local bakery, Elizabethan Desserts. A friendship was quickly formed, and a love for one another grew from there.
I had planned to surprise Lindsey on a day trip to Disneyland. For those of you that may not know, Lindsey is a huge fan of all things Disney. I wanted to propose at the World of Color show that takes place at the end of the night, just after the park closes. It was going to be perfect. The beautiful lights, the water, and all of Lindsey's favorite Disney songs. As they usually don't, things didn't go quite according to my plan. Lindsey wanted to leave the park early, without seeing the show. We had woken up really early to drive up to Disneyland and she was pretty tired. So I had two options, leave without proposing, or improvise. I chose the latter. As we were walking to the park exit, I asked Lindsey if she wanted to ride the Disneyland Railroad train once around the park, it is one of our favorite things to do when lines are too long for other rides. She agreed and we boarded the train right at sunset. We were about halfway around the park when I told myself, "it's now or never". I pulled out the ring and said some words I can't quite remember, because all I can remember is her smile and the word, "Yes".
