They met at church, where Chelsea said hello to Zach and he didn't respond. He hadn't known she was speaking to him. They didn't talk again for a very long time. She eventually became close friends with his family, which led Zach to wonder why this random girl kept showing up at family events. Pretty soon, though, he developed a crush and began sending her photos of food to woo her. The rest is history. Chelsea still likes to say she loved his family first.

Zach and Chelsea joined his family for a vacation in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, last May. One evening, he took her out to the Old Bay Steamer, a jazzy sea-food restaurant near the water. Afterwards, they walked on the pier. Chelsea wanted to stay there longer, but Zach had other plans. He rushed the both of them back to the condo beach before the sun went down. Little did Chelsea know Zach's cousins Taylor and Abby were hiding with cameras to take photos. Zach began to start asking Chelsea The Question when a kid threw a frisbee their way. He had to somehow hide the ring box in his pocket while tossing it back. But it was too late. Chelsea saw the box. He got down on one knee and asked her to marry him (after forgetting everything he'd rehearsed to say). Obviously, she said yes.
