Beginnings

Becca had an infatuation with Connor long before she met him. In the spring of 2016, she admitted to some of her friends that she had developed strong feelings for him. One day, at a coffee shop, Connor was introduced to Becca. She was smitten. Fast forward to Thanksgiving 2016. Becca replied to a photo on Connor’s Instagram and struck up a conversation. Loving the attention, Connor gave Becca his number, and the two began to text back and forth. Eventually, Becca came clean and admitted her feelings to Connor, who, not realizing how strongly she felt, admitted that he too had been feeling something as well. In late November, the two decided to go to a coffee shop. One of them believed it to be a first date, the other believed it to be a study session. The next few months were nothing but confusion for Becca. Connor couldn’t seem to make up his mind. In February of 2017, Connor told Becca that they would never work out. For the summer, Connor took an internship in Nashville, while Becca worked at a church in Washington DC. After months of awkward conversations and a distant friendship, on a whim, Connor asked Becca to FaceTime before she flew out to Nepal for a mission trip. They talked for hours into the night. After they hung up, Connor walked over to his friend Nathan’s room and said, candidly, “I'm an idiot, aren't I?” Now he was smitten. Connor was perplexed by this sudden realization. He asked many of his friends, “Have I been blind this whole time?” to which all responded with a resounding “yes.” During this time, Connor sought the Lord for wisdom. He had hurt Becca before, and he was not interested in doing that again. He was all in this time. A few days later, he sent her a message, detailing his feelings for her. He was ready to pursue her. For the next two months, Becca and Connor talked every day. There was something special between them. On August 3rd, 2017, Connor asked Becca to be his girlfriend, and their journey had begun.

The Proposal

With Becca and Connor, the thought of marriage was always on the table. Upon graduating college, Connor returned to Nashville for the summer. Within his first week, he had purchased an engagement ring for Becca. He knew exactly when and where he would propose. And so, he orchestrated a plan. Right away, Connor knew that in order to pull off a surprise proposal, he needed to recruit some friends to help. He asked Becca’s friend, Hailey, a prominent photographer in the area, to stage a photoshoot throughout Lynchburg where Becca would be the model for various companies. At their final location at the end of the day, Connor would walk out and surprise Becca. Connor was also deceptive of his location at that time. He had staged photos to post on Instagram that made it look as though he was still in Nashville, when in reality, he was driving to Lynchburg. In addition to the photoshoot, a core group of friends were waiting at Connor’s apartment for the couple following the proposal. Everything was set in place. Becca arrived at “The Secret Spot,” as their friends called it. Throughout the day, there were some possible pointers to a proposal, but when she arrived and Connor was nowhere to be found, she realized that all of her suspicion was misplaced. She couldn’t wait to call Connor after the photoshoot to tell him about her misleading day. Within ten minutes of that realization, Connor appeared from the woods and walked toward her. She was speechless. He asked her to marry him, babbling his way through a speech he forgot in the moment, and she said yes.

The Future

Following their marriage on January 12th, 2019, Connor and Becca will continue to live in Lynchburg, Virginia. Currently, Connor works as the Music Coordinator for the Liberty Worship Collective at Liberty University, while Becca works as the Communications Director at Gospel Community Rivermont. In terms of education, Connor will begin a Master of Divinity (M. Div.) in the spring semester, as Becca finishes up her undergraduate degree. She is looking forward to pursuing higher education as well. While some things are planned, the majority of the future remains uncertain for the couple. They are confident that God will lead them as they continue to serve Him and listen to His calling on their lives.
