We’re getting married!!!

Garrett and I became friends while living on the same hall at Liberty University. Garrett was very quiet and I was a loud and direct RA. We became a part of the same friend group and though I had always thought he was very attractive, I thought that our differences would make us incompatible. Plus, we had only spent time together in group settings, so I was afraid things might be awkward one-on-one (we can both be quite awkward). As I got to know him, he came out of his shell more and I got to learn more about the amazing man that he is. He was sweet, funny, God-fearing, and unlike any man I'd met before. We started straying a bit from our friend group in order to spend more alone time together and found out how well we got along. Shortly after, while getting coffee, Garrett confessed his feelings for me, thinking that the feeling was not mutual. I assured him that he was not the only one who felt that way, but that I didn't want to rush into anything.

Though we waited a bit to go on "real" dates and slap a label on it, I fell FAST. He did so many small meaningful things for me, told me how much he valued me, and made it clear that he was serious about his intentions with me. Every action aligned with his word, proving his integrity and character and his heart for the Lord was unmatched. I had never felt so cherished. I knew I loved him after only a few weeks and it turns out he felt the same way. We officially put a label on it on November 10, 2019 and I have cherished every moment since. Garrett and I learned a lot about each other in a short amount of time. As time went on, it became more and more apparent that he was strong in the areas I was weak and vice versa. He brought out the best in me and I in him. As we both prayed, we felt that the Lord was opening the door for our relationship to become a lifelong partnership. We talked about the prospect of marriage and how that would work out for us logistically and emotionally. The more we talked about it and the more I prayed about it, the more peace I felt that he was meant to be my husband.

I dropped some hints about my ring size and styles I liked and made sure to inform my friends of any important information they should relay to Garrett. As someone who is a HUGE planner, it killed me not to know when he would be proposing, if he had talked to my dad, or any of the other important details, but ultimately I knew that he had it under control and if I should be surprised about anything in this life, it should be this. On Saturday July 25, 2020, Garrett proposed to me while on vacation with his family. I was told we would be taking family pictures on the dock and that I should dress somewhat nice. His family encouraged us to take a Titanic picture. While I was turned around, he got down on one knee. Needless to say, I was very surprised and very happy!
