COVID was a difficult time for all of us, but we have a reason to look at it partially as a blessing in disguise. Shannon was a senior in college, needing an internship to complete her degree. Drew was supposed to play summer ball in Canada the summer of ’21, but COVID travel restrictions were still in place. This is when God led both of our paths to Lafayette, Indiana- where Shannon worked her first job in sports and Drew was a player for the Lafayette Aviators. Part of Shannon’s job was running the social media pages for the team, meaning going behind the scenes on days such as media day (which happened to be the first time we met). Drew walked into the locker room where headshots were being taken and asked if anyone could peel the sticker off of his bat *cue first conversation*. Of course, Shannon offered. A very short interaction but one turning out to be the start of a forever kind of love story. Over the next few weeks, more conversations were had, prayers were said, signs were given and we officially started dating June 15th, 2021. We spent the summer enjoying each other’s company, squeezing in any time we could to hangout between all the baseball. By the end of the summer, there was no doubt in our minds that we were both more than willing to make it work through the challenges to come. We spent the next 9 months 1,000 miles apart and another 6 months 9,000 miles apart. But here we are, stronger than ever. Our love continues to grow every single day and we can’t wait to spend the rest of our lives growing in our relationship together and with God.
