A few sultry glances and some sarcastic remarks in our high school library sparked a flame that still burns brighter with each passing day. From that moment on, our relationship has been defined by change – and movement. When I graduated from our boarding school and set out to begin the next step of my education at Tulane, it was 145 miles of pavement between Mobile and New Orleans that quickly became our lifeline. For a year, we racked up the miles on I-10 – mostly in the form of Megabus rides, something I hope to never repeat with such frequency (those trips start at $1 for a reason, y’all). Then, Madison wrapped up her time at ASMS and began her journey at LSU. Still, it was I-10 that connected us, in a different 81 miles route between Baton Rouge and New Orleans. A shorter distance to be sure, but a world away when your knee deep in papers, exams, and work, and you haven’t seen each other in weeks. Over the course of the next three years, we both became far better acquainted with that particular stretch of interstate than I ever thought possible. Back and forth, weekend after weekend, we packed as much as we could into every Saturday and Sunday that we had free. So many trips, in fact, I went through 3 cars in the span of 4 years – I guess I-10 giveth and I-10 taketh away. Most of you know the story from there, I was able to score a job in Baton Rouge and moved up there to be with Madison until she finished her Tenure at LSU. Now, looking toward the future, I know that no amount of distance can keep us apart, and that no matter where we are, we will continue to learn about each other and grow together. I know that couldn’t ask for a better adventure partner. From cross country trips to staycations, Mardi Gras to backwoods trails, 5-star restaurants to dive bars – there is no one else I want by my side. Lastly, If anyone is wondering, yes, matching 1-10 tattoos have been discussed. Thank you all for taking the time to come celebrate and share your love with us.
We wanted to make a statement to all of you regarding our changes due to COVID-19. Thankfully the wedding venue is very oversized for our wedding and is mostly outdoors. We already had a small guest list so there will not be any changes there. For the safety of event staff and our guests, and per current state guidelines, we are asking that masks are worn while indoors. State guidelines will likely change several times before our big day, and we intend to keep you updated. We intend to space chairs at the ceremony so that proper distancing between groups is available. We will keep you updated as things are still everchanging. We appreciate everyone's unwavering support in these unprecedented times. We hope to see you all soon. We have decided to offer a virtual option for anyone who cant make it or isn't comfortable due to COVID 19. Please let Madison know if you are interested in taking part in the virtual ceremony.
