We met at a friends house party in the spring of 2011. We instantly clicked. From that day we spent the entire spring break together and started dating on March 19, 2011 (exactly 11 years from our wedding date)!
Besides being in the middle of a pandemic we decided to take a beach trip for the weekend to Englewood, FL. We visit Englewood frequently so I (Colleen) didn't think much of it... just another fishing weekend. The day of the engagement was normal. We went to the sandbar where I proceeded to chew off all my nail polish. We went back to the house to get ready for dinner. I got ready in 10 minutes. Barley put on makeup, and didn't even do my hair. My friend Julia even tried to save me by saying "do you want me to curl your hair"? I didn't think anything of it at all.... While we were on the boat headed to dinner Julia suggested we pull over to take pictures on the beach during sunset. Again, I didn't think anything of it. While walking out to the beach, I noticed Mac was walking way ahead of me. "He's probably walking to see if there's any fish out in the water" I thought. When I turned around to see if the rest of the party was behind us, I noticed my friend from back home jump out of the sand dunes with a camera. It was then I knew... it was going down. I was in utter shock. I looked back at Mac and he was down on one knee. Mac and I always joked that when he proposed he wanted me to be completely un-prepared. I love him so much for making the proposal a complete surprise. On top of it all, our families were there to watch and offer congratulations. We finished the evening with dinner, laughs, and happy tears.
11 years from our original anniversary, we are so excited to tie the knot. We knew that we were put on this earth to be together and can't wait to spend the rest of our lives with each other. We chose our wedding venue, Azaleana Manor for it's gorgeous setting on the St. John's river. Although we have no real attachment to Jacksonville, FL, we do visit frequently and love the area. We can't wait to celebrate with everyone!
