Yes, if you hold a U.S. passport, you need a visitor visa to enter Brazil. You do not need to visit an embassy, you can apply online for an electronic Visa. Cost: $80.90 Validaity: Valid for multiple entries over a period of 10 years. Duration of Stay: You can stay for up to 90 days per year. Processing Time: Usually takes a few weeks, but applying well in advance is recommended. You can apply online with the link below. Welcome party: Cocktail attire Wedding ceremony & reception: Black tie The ceremony at Christ of Redeemer can be windy and chilly, especially in June. We highly recommend that women bring a shawl for warmth.

June in Rio de Janeiro has mild, pleasant winter weather with daily highs averaging around 77 F and cool, comfortable evenings dropping to about 66 F. It is one of the driest months of the year, with just 7 days of rainfall, making it an ideal time to explore the city without the intense summer humidity.

When should I buy flights and book the hotel?

We recommend that travel accommodations are arranged as soon as possible to avoid price increases and hotel availability.

Transportation between airport and hotel
Answer
The Fairmont Hotel is about 25-30 minutes away from GIG International Airport. We recommend taking a taxi (vs uber) that is outside the airport to get to the hotel. The hotel can arrange taxi’s for you to explore Rio and travel back to the airport for your departure.

Transportation to and from the Christ of Redeemer for the ceremony
Answer
Vans will be arranged to transport all guests from the Fairmont Hotel to and from the ceremony venue. All guests must be in the lobby of the Fairmont Hotel at 6:30pm sharp. The vans will drop you off at the top, you will take either the escalator or the elevator up to the ceremony area.

We recommend staying in a hotel. We have listed several options under the ‘Travel’ tab with varying price ranges in close proximity the Fairmont Hotel where the reception will be hosted.

Like any major city around the world, Rio de Janeiro requires visitors to use common travel precautions. Millions of tourists visit Rio each year and have wonderful experiences. We recommend staying aware of your surroundings, avoiding the display of expensive jewelry or valuables, and keeping phones, wallets, and other personal belongings secure, especially in crowded areas. The same level of caution you would use in cities such as New York, Paris, Barcelona, or London applies in Rio as well. Our wedding events and recommended hotels are located in popular, well-traveled tourist areas. By taking sensible precautions and staying attentive, you can relax and enjoy everything this beautiful city has to offer.
