Our story began during the very first week of high school in 2017. We were assigned to work together on a science project, and what started as a classroom assignment quickly turned into something much more. Not long after, Jason asked me to go to a football game with him. His excuse? He was going to teach me how football worked. Looking back, I think he may have had another motive in mind. Between the game, the conversation, and getting to know each other better, it didn’t take long for us to realize there was something special there. That same night, on September 29, 2017, Jason asked me to be his girlfriend, and I happily said yes. What began as a high school science project turned into years of memories, laughter, adventures, and growing up together. Through every stage of life, we’ve been by each other’s side, and we’re so excited to begin our next chapter as husband and wife.
Jason proposed during our graduation trip to the mountains, and I can’t lie and say I didn’t know it was coming, just not the way it did. We had only been at the cabin for about an hour when I was sitting on the side of the bed blow drying my hair and getting ready for dinner. No makeup, messy hair, completely unprepared. Out of nowhere, Jason came around the bed with a ring box and got down on one knee. Before I could even process what was happening, he was asking me to marry him. Of course, I said yes. The first thing I said after was, “You couldn’t have waited until I was ready for dinner?” His response? “Expect the unexpected.” Looking back, I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. It wasn’t a big, planned out moment, it was just us, and that’s what made it perfect.
